As Muhjadarrah was cooking on my stove yesterday, I was reading  America's Obesity Epidemic Still Growing: What You Can Do About It - Planet Green. It's about how folks on a budget often choose processed foods over cooking from scratch because farm subsidies have made a lot of  unhealthy prepared meals cheaper than, say, fruits and vegetables.

Muhjadarrah could help.  It has got to be one of the cheapest meals there is.   It only involves rice, lentils, oil, and an onion.  Oh and salt and pepper.  But it's simply delicious!

If you google Muhjadarrah you'll also find a million ways to tweak it.   Today I threw the leftovers in a pan with a sauteed  carrot, added some cooked chopped spinach, a fresh chopped tomato, some cumin and tossed it all together.

"Don't lose that recipe!" said my husband :-)  And Alice ate a whole plateful!
